Bikes Beyond Borders
Lifting refugees out of transport poverty

Having fled extreme danger, the power of a bike to open access to education, health services, legal support and social connection is life transforming. Our refugee bike provision makes travel autonomy possible for some of the most vulnerable people in society.
Support Bikes Beyond Borders
Your gift will give transport freedom, social connection and mental health relief to a refugee in need.
Find a bike
If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker, please contact your support worker to find out if the scheme is currently open.
Once referred, please bring your referral to our Hub: Life Cycle Hub, 19 Cambridge Rd, Bishopston, Bristol, BS7 8PS.
How it works
- We recycle pre-loved donated bikes.
- Our partners identify refugees in need of a bike to get to school, work, volunteering or support services.
- Referrals come to our bike hub - receiving help to choose the right bike, with free lights and lock to keep them safe.
Without a bike, some refugees walk hours in heat or rain to access basic amenities. A bike saves them time, energy and money, while boosting mental health and providing exercise.
Cycle stories
“Very helpful for daily life. I can go to college on time. I can save money.”
“They offered me a road bike, which changed my life. I have found myself cycling everywhere. It has enhanced my physical health, mental well-being and social life. It has helped me overcome culture shock by allowing me to make friends and integrate into the community.”
